Karns Foods announced on April 3 a voluntary recall of its "Mini Dark Chocolate Raspberry Cups" after discovering the product may contain undeclared peanuts. The recall affects approximately 8-ounce packages distributed to Karns Foods locations in Pennsylvania, specifically those marked with a pack date of September 18, 2025.
The recall is significant for individuals with peanut allergies, as consuming the product could lead to serious or life-threatening allergic reactions. No illnesses related to this issue have been reported so far.
According to Karns Foods, the issue was identified when it was found that some products containing peanuts were packaged without indicating peanuts as an ingredient. The company said the cause was a temporary breakdown in its packaging processes. As a result, affected products were immediately removed from store shelves on January 30, and registered rewards shoppers who purchased the item were notified at that time.
Customers who bought these mini dark chocolate raspberry cups are encouraged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. For additional information or questions about the recall, consumers can contact Karns Foods at 717-766-6477 between 8 am and 3 pm Monday through Friday EST.
The company has not reported any related illnesses and continues efforts to ensure customer safety by addressing packaging procedures.
