Wawa announced on April 3 that it is recalling its 16-ounce pints of Wawa Iced Tea Lemon, Wawa Iced Tea Diet Lemon, Wawa Diet Lemonade, and Wawa Fruit Punch produced by the Wawa Beverage Company. The recall affects a limited number of stores in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, and Virginia due to the potential presence of an undeclared milk allergen.
The company said the affected products have been removed from sale and disposed of at impacted locations. No other states where Wawa operates are included in this recall, and no other Wawa branded beverages are involved.
According to the announcement, people with milk allergies could face serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume these products. The company has published a full list of affected store locations and product images on its Recall Alert Page at wawa.com.
No illnesses related to this issue have been reported so far. "Wawa’s primary concern is always for the health and safety of our customers and associates. In the public’s interest, we have removed this product from sales at all of the impacted stores and activated this recall," the company said.
The recall was started after a temporary equipment issue was identified and corrected by Wawa that may have caused milk allergens to be present in these drinks without proper labeling. Customers who purchased any recalled items are advised to dispose of them immediately. Questions or refund requests can be directed to the company's 24-hour Customer Contact Center via email through wawa.com/iframe/contact or by calling 1-800-444-9292.
