Robert J. "Bob" Troester U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma
George Walters, 78, of Oklahoma City, was sentenced on April 6 to ten years in federal prison for possession of child pornography, according to an announcement by U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.
The case highlights ongoing efforts by federal authorities to address the dangers posed by repeat offenders in child exploitation cases.
Troester said, "The stiff sentence imposed by the Court justly punishes Walters as a repeat child predator who possessed and shared child porn less than one year after completing federal supervision related to his prior child pornography conviction. Protecting our children from vile predators will always remain a priority of this office."
According to public records, FBI agents identified Walters during an undercover investigation in September 2025 that targeted individuals sharing child pornography online. Investigators traced an internet protocol address linked to Walters and found he had made images and videos available through a file-sharing website. Walters had previously been convicted in 2010 for possession of child pornography and is a registered sex offender. He was arrested on October 27, 2025, after law enforcement executed a search warrant on his phone and discovered additional illegal material.
A federal grand jury charged Walters with possession of child pornography on November 4, 2025. He pleaded guilty on January 6, admitting he knowingly possessed the material.
At sentencing, U.S. District Judge Scott L. Palk cited Walters' criminal history and noted that the new offense occurred less than one year after he completed supervised release for his earlier conviction. The sentence includes lifetime supervised release following prison time.
The case was investigated by the FBI Oklahoma City Field Office and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon Hale.
This prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood (PSC), a nationwide Department of Justice initiative aimed at combating sexual exploitation and abuse of children online.
