U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested several individuals convicted of crimes including aggravated sexual assault of a child, dealing child pornography, and importation of fentanyl, according to an April 8 announcement.

The arrests highlight ongoing efforts by ICE to remove people convicted of serious criminal offenses from the United States. Officials say these actions are intended to protect public safety and uphold immigration laws.

Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said, “Yesterday, the heroic men and women of ICE arrested child predators, child rapists, drug traffickers, and other scumbags.” Bis also stated, “Under President Trump, criminal illegal aliens are not welcome in the United States. If you come to our country illegally and break our laws, we will hunt you down, arrest you, deport you, and you will never return.”

Among those arrested were Kofi Ib Osei from Ghana for multiple counts including false statement to a bank and money laundering in Boston; Pedro Joel Martinez from El Salvador for aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14 in Tarrant County; Miguel Angel Vazquez-Garcia from Mexico for dealing child pornography in Wilmington; Ader Aldair Ramirez-Quiroz from Honduras for importation of fentanyl in San Diego; and Anyeli Carolina Peley-Herrera from Venezuela for acquisition of personal identification by false authority in Bonneville County.

Officials encourage Americans interested in learning more about recent arrests related to public safety threats to visit WOW.DHS.Gov.

The agency says it remains committed to enforcing immigration law against those who commit serious crimes.
