Rodney Skipper, a resident of Bowdoinham, was sentenced on Apr. 9 in U.S. District Court in Portland for possessing firearms after having previously been convicted of a felony offense.

U.S. District Judge John A. Woodcock, Jr. sentenced Skipper, age 46, to two years in prison followed by three years of supervised release. Skipper had pleaded guilty to the charge on September 11, 2025.

According to court records, Brunswick police responded to a Walmart regarding a potential shoplifting incident and were directed outside to Skipper’s vehicle. Officers observed that Skipper had an empty pistol holster on his hip and were informed he had previously been seen with a firearm in the holster before their arrival. A search of his vehicle led officers to recover three pistols: a 9mm pistol, a .40 caliber pistol, and a 10mm pistol.

Skipper was prohibited from possessing firearms due to an earlier felony conviction for assaultive conduct. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the case with help from the Brunswick Police Department.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, which aims to use all resources available within the Department of Justice against illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations while working to protect communities from violent crime.
