Thomas Pham LeGro, a 48-year-old video journalist from the District of Columbia, pleaded guilty on April 10 to one count of possession of child pornography, according to an announcement by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.

The case is significant as it involves a member of the media and highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat online exploitation and abuse of children. Sentencing for LeGro is scheduled for Sept. 3, before Judge John D. Bates.

LeGro was arrested on June 26, 2025 after FBI agents executed a search warrant at his residence and seized several electronic devices. During the search, agents found what appeared to be broken pieces of a hard drive hidden under a rug in the basement. An examination of LeGro's laptop revealed a folder containing eleven videos depicting adult men sexually abusing prepubescent children and forcing them to engage in sex acts.

The investigation was led by the FBI Washington Field Office’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, which includes federal agents as well as detectives from northern Virginia and the District of Columbia. The task force investigates individuals involved in child exploitation and human trafficking cases.

FBI Assistant Director in Charge Darren B. Cox joined U.S. Attorney Pirro in announcing the plea agreement. Assistant U.S. Attorney Caroline Burrell is prosecuting the case for the District of Columbia.

This matter was brought under Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in February 2006 aimed at protecting children from online exploitation and abuse through coordinated efforts among federal, state, and local agencies.
