Clinton J. Johnson U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Oklahoma
A Mexican national living in Oklahoma City was sentenced on Apr. 7 after being arrested in Owasso for attempting to meet a minor child for sex, U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson said.
U.S. District Judge William P. Johnson sentenced Jose Luis Granados Baltazar, 33, to 60 months imprisonment for Attempted Receipt of Child Pornography and Unlawful Reentry of a Removed Alien. After serving his sentence, Granados Baltazar will be subject to lifetime supervised release and is expected to face removal proceedings.
According to the announcement, Granados Baltazar began communicating via Facebook in May 2025 with someone he believed was a 13-year-old child. The individual was actually an undercover police officer. Over several days, Granados Baltazar discussed sexual topics, sent an explicit photograph of himself, requested a sexually explicit image from the purported minor, and arranged to meet for sex. He was detained upon arrival at the agreed location in Owasso.
Law enforcement determined during booking that Granados Baltazar had previously been removed from the United States in 2022. He will remain in custody pending transfer to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.
The case was investigated by the Owasso Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Nathan E. Michel.
The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse online.
