President Donald J. Trump issued a statement on Apr. 20 for National Crime Victims Week, emphasizing his administration's commitment to supporting Americans affected by violent crime and to upholding law and order across the country.
The message underscores the importance of public safety and support for victims as a central focus of the administration's efforts. President Trump said, "This National Crime Victims Week, my Administration reaffirms our unwavering support for every American who has suffered at the hands of violent criminals. Their stories strengthen my resolve to seek swift and unrelenting justice for those who harm our citizens and to uphold law and order across every corner of our Nation."
In his statement, Trump described actions taken since returning to office, including measures aimed at securing the border and deploying federal resources in cities considered dangerous. He said he signed legislation called the One Big Beautiful Bill that increases funding, resources, and manpower for Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers.
Trump claimed these steps have resulted in lower crime rates nationwide: "As a direct result of these decisive actions, America is safer, stronger, and more secure than ever before." He cited reductions in various types of crimes such as murders, rapes, robberies, aggravated assaults, shooting deaths among law enforcement officers on duty, traffic fatalities, and overdose deaths.
He also stated that no illegal aliens have been released into the country for ten consecutive months while thousands of individuals accused or convicted of serious crimes have been deported. According to Trump: "With violent criminals no longer running rampant in our streets... families once again feel free to enjoy their own communities."
Concluding his remarks during National Crime Victims Week, Trump said: "We remain committed to restoring safety in every community and protecting our citizens. And we will never waver in our mission of ensuring that justice is delivered, law and order prevail, and every American can lead a life of safety and freedom."
