A Bridgeville, Delaware man was indicted on April 7 for federal drug and gun violations, according to an announcement made by U.S. Attorney Benjamin L. Wallace on April 21. Lamir Faison, age 21, appeared before Judge Laura D. Hatcher on April 16 for his initial court appearance.
The indictment alleges that Faison possessed fentanyl with the intent to distribute it and had an AR-15-style rifle in his possession. Because of a prior felony conviction, Faison is prohibited from possessing firearms.
Faison faces three charges: possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. If convicted on all counts, he could face up to life in prison; however, actual sentences are typically less than the maximum penalty as determined by federal sentencing guidelines and other statutory factors.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Delaware State Police, and the Delaware State Department of Probation and Parole. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin P. Pierce is prosecuting the case.
Officials remind that "the charges contained in the indictment are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty."
