The Department of State announced on Apr. 24 the appointment of Thomas "Tommy" Pigott as the new State Department Spokesperson.

Pigott will be responsible for communicating with audiences in the United States and internationally about how, under Secretary Marco Rubio's leadership, the department is advancing President Trump's foreign policy. He will also lead interactions with the department’s press corps and media, and contribute to communications strategy and messaging.

Pigott joined the department and Trump administration in January 2025 as Principal Deputy Spokesperson. He brings nearly a decade of experience in communications, having previously worked on President Donald J. Trump’s 2024 campaign and at the Republican National Committee.

Originally from New Jersey, Pigott holds a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and a master’s degree from George Washington University’s School of Media & Public Affairs.

The appointment marks a continuation of efforts to shape public messaging around U.S. foreign policy priorities.
