U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) published a series of posts on its official Twitter account on May 5 and 6, 2026, highlighting recent enforcement actions involving non-citizens convicted of serious crimes.
Later the same day, ICE reported another case: "Soili Xiomara Aparicio-Santos, of Honduras, was convicted in Suffolk County, N.Y., of trying to smother her newborn son to death with a pillow immediately after giving birth. On May 6, ICE shared information about a third individual: "Mario Ectali Lopez-Garcia, of Guatemala, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for sexually assaulting a child younger than 16. ICE arrested him at a correctional facility in Enfield, Conn., April 30 before he could be released into the community after much of his sentence had".
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is responsible for enforcing federal laws governing border control and immigration within the United States.
