A Florida resident was arrested on April 22 in connection with the June 21, 1993, execution-style murders of Luis Guerrero and Danis Sime in the Bronx, according to a May 4 announcement by Homeland Security Investigations New York and the New York City Police Department. William Antonio Solis, age 62 and residing in Tampa, is charged with intentional killing while engaged in a narcotics conspiracy.
The case underscores ongoing efforts by law enforcement to pursue justice for violent crimes regardless of how much time has passed. The arrest follows years of investigation led by special agents and task force officers who continued working on the case.
“As alleged, William Solis spent decades hiding in plain sight more than a thousand miles from where he viciously murdered the Guerreros in front of their young child,” said HSI New York acting Special Agent in Charge Michael Alfonso. “This arrest is the result of years of meticulous investigative work by dedicated special agents and task force officers who refused to let this case go cold. Regardless of the time that has passed or the distance traveled, HSI New York, together with the Southern District of New York and the NYPD, will stop at nothing to ensure those responsible for senseless violence face justice on behalf of New Yorkers.”
According to investigators and as outlined in an indictment, Solis and two co-conspirators planned a robbery targeting Guerrero at his Bronx apartment. During this incident, they restrained Guerrero and took his drugs before luring Sime into the apartment where she was also overpowered. Both victims were executed by gunshot wounds to their heads while their three-year-old child was present.
The investigation involved collaboration between HSI New York’s Violent Gang Task Force, NYPD, U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York—with significant support from HSI Tampa, Tampa Police Department, U.S. Customs and Border Protection as well as federal prosecutors from Florida.
