Polk County man pleads guilty to attempted production of child sexual abuse material

Bradly Dwayne Wimberly, age 32, has pleaded guilty to attempted production of child sexual abuse material. Wimberly faces a minimum sentence of 15 years and up to 30 years in federal prison, according to a May 5 announcement by U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe.

The case highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to address the issue of online exploitation of minors. According to court documents, between February 15, 2024, and July 10, 2025, Wimberly communicated online with someone he believed was a girl aged between 13 and 14 years old. He repeatedly asked the minor to produce sexually explicit images and videos and send them to him. However, the individual was actually an undercover special agent from Homeland Security Investigations.

Homeland Security Investigations led the investigation with assistance from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Sarah Janette Swartzberg is prosecuting the case.

This prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse nationwide. The program brings together federal, state, and local resources under the leadership of United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section to locate offenders who exploit children online as well as identify victims.
