Darryl James, 22, of Washington, D.C., was sentenced on May 1 to 15 years in prison for his role in a series of armed robberies involving luxury watches and other goods during the summer of 2024, according to U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.
James pleaded guilty to three counts of armed robbery in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Two co-conspirators, Isaiah Boyd, 24, and Issac Ingraham, 20, were previously sentenced on February 13 for their involvement. Boyd pleaded guilty to one count each of armed robbery and attempted robbery. Ingraham pleaded guilty to one count of robbery and one count of carrying a pistol without a license.
According to government evidence presented in court, several similar-style armed robberies occurred during the summer months in busy nightlife areas within Northwest Washington. The incidents followed a pattern: suspects would use a stolen car to approach pedestrians before masked men exited the vehicle with firearms drawn and robbed victims at gunpoint for luxury watches. James participated in at least eight such robberies. The final incident took place on July 26, when James led police on a high-speed chase through the city while discarding stolen property and two handguns along the way. Although all three suspects initially escaped that day, James was arrested about two weeks later with another handgun. Authorities later identified Boyd and Ingraham as accomplices; they were arrested separately in December 2024 and January 2025.
Interim Chief Jeffery Carroll of the Metropolitan Police Department joined Pirro in announcing these sentences.
"In announcing the sentence," Pirro said she "commended the work of those who investigated the case from the Metropolitan Police Department." She also commended Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Levy for investigating and prosecuting this case.
All three defendants have remained detained since their arrests.
