Woonsocket man sentenced to ten years for possessing child sexual abuse material

A Woonsocket man was sentenced on May 8 in federal court in Rhode Island to ten years of imprisonment for receiving, possessing, and accessing with intent to view child sexual abuse material.

Jerry Lee Davenport, age 51, received the sentence from Chief U.S. District Court Judge John J. McConnell, Jr. The court also ordered Davenport to serve five years of supervised release following his prison term and pay $6,000 in restitution to the victims.

Davenport pleaded guilty on November 10, 2025, to possessing child pornography. According to court documents, law enforcement officials from Homeland Security Investigations and the Rhode Island Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force began investigating Davenport in March 2023 after receiving information that he had received and viewed images containing child sexual abuse material. During a search of his residence in Woonsocket, authorities found several thumb drives containing numerous illegal images stored in a locked bedroom drawer.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Paul F. Daly, Jr., and investigated by members of Homeland Security Investigations along with the Rhode Island Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

This prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood—a nationwide initiative led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the Department of Justice’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section—to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse by coordinating federal, state, and local resources aimed at apprehending offenders and rescuing victims.
