U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) published a series of statements on its official Twitter account on May 8 and 9, 2026, detailing recent enforcement actions and outreach efforts.
In a post dated May 8, ICE stated: "ICE saves hundreds of potential victims of illegal immigrant crime every day. We also help those already unnecessarily victimized. Contact our VOICE office at 855-48-VOICE (6423) 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET."
On May 9, ICE reported the arrest of an individual in Virginia: "ICE arrested Walvin Victor Hugo Garcia, of Guatelmala, after his first appearance before a Fairfax County court where he is facing multiple charges related to raping a child under 13-years-old. ICE lodged a detainer with the county asking that he not be released back into the". The tweet included an incomplete sentence and was followed by another post containing only an arrow emoji and a link: " https://t.co/u69puBenAl".
The Victims Of Immigration Crime Engagement (VOICE) Office referenced by ICE provides support services for individuals affected by crimes involving immigrants, operating as part of the agency’s broader mission to enforce immigration laws and assist victims.
Fairfax County, Virginia has previously been involved in discussions about cooperation between local law enforcement agencies and federal immigration authorities regarding detainers placed on individuals charged with serious crimes.
