Christopher L. Daniels, 47, of Tallahassee, Florida, was found guilty by a federal jury on July 29 of possession with intent to distribute various controlled substances and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The verdict was announced by John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.
Evidence presented at trial showed that the Tallahassee Police Department executed a search warrant at Daniels’ home on January 21, 2026. Officers discovered approximately 2.75 ounces of methamphetamine, an ounce of cocaine, half an ounce of crack cocaine in plain view on an ironing board, about an ounce of synthetic cathinones known as “molly,” 64 suspected MDMA tablets later identified as low-purity methamphetamine, and a pound of marijuana. Four pistols were also recovered from the residence, including a “Draco” AK-47-style pistol located near the plate containing crack cocaine. Investigators also obtained evidence from Daniels’ cellphone indicating involvement in drug trafficking.
Daniels is described as a twelve-time convicted felon with convictions dating back to 1996 and faces enhanced sentencing due to multiple prior convictions for serious drug felonies. Sentencing is scheduled for October 15 at the United States Courthouse in Tallahassee before United States District Court Judge Robert L. Hinkle.
The defendant could receive between 25 years and life imprisonment, along with supervised release ranging from ten years to life and a fine up to $20 million.
The conviction resulted from an investigation involving the Tallahassee Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, with assistance from the Drug Enforcement Administration. Assistant United States Attorney James A. McCain prosecuted the case.
