A Tulsa man was sentenced on Jul. 29 for assaulting his girlfriend and coercing her to lie to law enforcement, according to an announcement from U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson.
U.S. District Judge Sara E. Hill sentenced Jordi Monroe Ridgebear, 30, to 45 months in prison for Domestic Assault in Indian Country by a Habitual Offender and Witness Tampering by Corrupt Persuasion. Ridgebear will also serve three years of supervised release following his imprisonment.
According to court documents, the incident occurred in 2024 when Ridgebear and his girlfriend were drinking and began arguing. The girlfriend called 911 during the altercation, with audio capturing her telling Ridgebear to get off her and asking him to leave while he threatened violence. When officers arrived, she reported that Ridgebear shoved her, put his hands around her throat, pulled her hair, and punched her. Officers arrested Ridgebear at the scene.
While detained in jail, Ridgebear contacted the victim multiple times, urging her not to cooperate with law enforcement or testify before a grand jury and encouraging her to recant allegations through an affidavit in hopes of having charges dropped.
Court records indicate that Ridgebear has eight prior arrests related to domestic violence offenses. He was previously convicted of domestic abuse in 2017 and of domestic assault with a dangerous weapon in 2020.
Ridgebear remains in custody pending transfer to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons. The case was investigated by the FBI and Tulsa Police Department; Assistant U.S. Attorney Stacey Todd prosecuted it.
