United States congratulates Maldives on Independence Day and 60 years of diplomatic ties

The United States congratulated the people of the Maldives as they celebrated their Independence Day, according to a July 25 statement.

The statement recognized the milestone of 60 years of diplomatic relations between the United States and the Maldives. It also highlighted ongoing cooperation on key issues such as maritime security and maintaining stability in the Indian Ocean region.

“On behalf of the United States of America, I congratulate the people of the Maldives as they celebrate their Independence Day,” read the message. “This year marks 60 years of diplomatic relations between the United States and the Maldives, and we look forward to growing our partnership on key issues related to maritime security and preserving a stable Indian Ocean region.”

The statement concluded with well wishes: “The United States sends our best wishes to the Maldivian people.”

Diplomatic engagement between both countries has focused on regional stability, maritime cooperation, and strengthening bilateral ties.
