The U.S. military conducted at least 13 consecutive nights of strikes against Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps targets in the most sustained direct American military confrontation with Iran in modern history, U.S. Central Command confirmed through late July.

The strikes came in response to attempted Iranian attacks against U.S. forces and interests in the region, according to CENTCOM. U.S. and Saudi forces also conducted joint strikes on Iran-backed militant positions in Iraq as part of the broader campaign.

CENTCOM has not publicly disclosed specific strike locations or released full battle damage assessments for all operations. The command confirmed the ongoing nature of the campaign through a series of press releases documenting nightly operations across the Middle East theater.

The sustained military engagement marks a dramatic escalation from prior U.S.-Iran confrontations, which had been limited to isolated retaliatory strikes or defensive actions. The scope and duration of the current campaign have no precedent in the decades-long adversarial relationship between Washington and Tehran.

U.S. forces remain deployed across the Middle East theater in significant numbers. The joint operations with Saudi Arabia signal deepening military coordination between Washington and Riyadh against Iranian-backed threats in the region.

The campaign has drawn attention from members of Congress who have raised questions about war powers authorities governing the operations. The Senate Armed Services Committee and House Armed Services Committee have jurisdiction over oversight of the military actions.

The strikes continue amid broader regional instability, with U.S. military assets simultaneously engaged in operations across multiple theaters including the Horn of Africa.
