A Venezuelan national illegally present in the United States was sentenced to federal prison for drug trafficking violations in the Eastern District of Texas, U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs announced on July 28.
Anthony Juber Viloria Colina, 32, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and received a sentence of 46 months in federal prison from U.S. District Judge Amos L. Mazzant.
According to information presented in court, Colina was stopped for a traffic violation in Grayson County on January 22, 2025. After consenting to a search of his vehicle and opening the trunk, Colina fled on foot. Law enforcement discovered approximately 100 kilograms of methamphetamine packaged as 100 individually wrapped “bricks” inside the trunk.
The case is part of Operation Take Back America, described as a nationwide initiative that marshals Department of Justice resources “to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.” The investigation involved the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Grayson County Sheriff’s Office; Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Erlandson prosecuted the case.
The U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas covers 43 counties across East Texas with offices located in Beaumont, Lufkin, Plano, Sherman, Texarkana and Tyler; it employs about 100 staff members including roughly 50 assistant U.S. attorneys who prosecute federal crimes and deliver civil litigation services as part of its work within the United States Department of Justice while also supporting victims through dedicated services, according to the official website.
