News Release: Tucked into the rolling hills and grasslands about 40 miles southwest of Bruneau, Idaho, is the Pre-Schooner II Site. It was the location of a non-nuclear cratering experiment conducted by the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission (AEC), a predecessor agency to DOE, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) in 1965.
