Grant Application Available For Review

News Release: The 2007 draft off-highway motor vehicle grant application for the Desert Manager’s Group Tortoise Education and Outreach Project is available for public review at the Oasis Visitor Center in Twentynine Palms. This application will be a component of a larger grant package, being submitted by the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) California Desert District Office in Moreno Valley.

Superintendent Restricts Open Fires

News Release: Superintendent Curt Sauer announced that, until further notice, no charcoal or wood fires will be allowed anywhere within Joshua Tree National Park. Propane and gas camping stoves may still be used. This action was taken because the current fire hazard in the park is extreme due to the abundance of dry grasses and other vegetation.
