Updated Re-opening Schedule for Assateague Island National Seashore

News Release: Berlin, Maryland - The following provides updated information regarding the re-opening of Assateague Island National Seashore in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene.


News Release: Grand Canyon, Ariz. - The Lower Fire is approximately 32 acres. Yesterday the fire crossed the park/forest boundary and is now burning within Grand Canyon National Park and the Tusayan District of the Kaibab National Forest. It is smoldering and creeping along the forest floor, and burning some heavier fuels like downed logs.


News Release: WEST GLACIER, MT. - The search continues for missing alpine hiker Jacob "Jake" Rigby. Several crews endured rainy and cold conditions as they camped overnight in the search area. Snow was reported at approximately 6,400 feet and low cloud cover limited aerial operations until later in the day on Thursday. Ground crews, in addition to the crews that camped overnight, searched throughout the day.
