News Release: Preet Bharara, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced today that RENE CARDONA, a former employee of an afterschool program in the Bronx, was sentenced to 17½ years in prison for producing, receiving, distributing, and possessing child pornography. On April 9, 2015, CARDONA was found guilty by U.S. District Judge Ronnie Abrams following a bench trial. CARDONA, who was arrested on April 30, 2014, has been detained since his arrest.
