Charleston heroin dealer pleads guilty in federal court

News Release: Charleston, W.Va. - Christopher Strick, 36, of Charleston, West Virginia pled guilty today in federal court in Charleston to distribution of heroin, announced United States Attorney Booth Goodwin. Strick admitted that on Jan. 13, 2012, he sold heroin to a confidential informant working with the Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Network Team (“MDent") in exchange for $200.00. The transaction occurred at defendant’s Edgewood Drive residence.


Stamford Man Sentenced to 4 Years in Prison for Illegal Gun Possession, Violating Supervised Release

News Release: Deirdre M. Daly, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, today announced that on June 19, 2015, FRANK GREEN, SR., 50, of Stamford, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Robert N. Chatigny in Hartford to 48 months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release, for being a felon in possession of a firearm, and for violating the terms and conditions of his supervised release from a prior federal conviction. GREEN pleaded guilty on March 24, 2015.


Chisana River 2 Fire Continues to Spread

News Release: Copper, Center, AK - The Chisana River 2 Fire has grown to 33,805 acres and is now the largest wildland fire burning in Alaska at this time. This lightning-caused fire began June 9 in the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve. The north end of the fire has burned into the Tetlin National Wildlife Refuge. The fire is burning along the west side of the Chisana River about 16 miles south of the Alaska Highway and 18 miles from the Canadian border.

Pilger Man Sentenced For Bankruptcy Fraud

News Release: United States Attorney Deborah R. Gilg announced that Jeffrey L. Eckert, age 55, of Pilger, Nebraska, was sentenced for his conviction for making a false oath in a bankruptcy proceeding. Chief United States District Court Judge Laurie Smith Camp sentenced Eckert to 5 years of probation and ordered him to pay restitution in the amount of $50,142.66. Eckert was also ordered to perform 100 hours of community service during the first two years of his term of probation.
