BTS Statistics Release: January 2016 U.S. Airline Traffic Data

News Release: The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported today that U.S. airlines’ system wide (domestic and international) scheduled service load factor – a measure of the use of airline capacity – fell to 83.9 percent in January, seasonally adjusted, falling after a single month of growth from November 2015 to December 2015. Seasonal adjustment allows the comparing of monthly load factors to all other months.


Air France, Lufthansa, and British Airways Fined for Inadequate Responses to Disability Complaints

News Release: WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) today fined Air France, Lufthansa, and British Airways for not adequately responding to complaints filed by passengers with disabilities. Air France and Lufthansa were each fined $200,000 and British Airways was fined $150,000. The airlines were also ordered to cease and desist from future similar violations.


U.S. Department of Transportation Announces $20.5 Million to Improve Access to Transit in Communities Around the Country

News Release: WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) today announced that $20.5 million in competitive grant funds is available to support planning efforts that improve access to public transit in communities across the country.
