North Carolina Man is Sentenced to 14 Months for Interfering with Airport Security Screening Personnel

Citizens elected members of the Senate in 2012 and members of the Chamber of Deputies in 2015. Observers considered the June 2016 gubernatorial elections free and fair.

La Crosse Man Sentenced to 71 Months on Methamphetamine Charge

News Release: MADISON, WIS. -- Scott C. Blader, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Mitrel Y. Anderson, 30, La Crosse, Wisconsin, was sentenced today by Chief U.S. District Judge James D. Peterson to 71 months in federal prison for possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute. Anderson pleaded guilty to this charge on Feb. 11, 2018.


Tonga

Release: The Kingdom of Tonga is a constitutional monarchy. King Tupou VI, popularly elected parliamentary leaders, the nobility and their representatives, prominent commoners, and democratic reform figures dominated political life. The most recent parliamentary election occurred on November 16. Observers characterized the election as generally free and fair. On Dec. 18, parliament re-elected Samuela ‘Akilisi Pohiva to serve as prime minister.
