News Release: MONROE, La. - United States Attorney David C. Joseph announced that Emerson Eugene Stanton, 56, of West Monroe, Louisiana, was sentenced Wednesday by U.S. District Judge Terry A. Doughty to 10 years in federal prison for possessing child pornography that included sexually explicit images of juveniles. Judge Doughty also sentenced Stanton to five years of supervised release following his incarceration.

Missouri man dies after day at Buffalo National River

News Release: At approximately 6:30 p.m. on July 4, Newton County Dispatch notified the park's dispatch center of a man that was having trouble breathing at Upper Pruitt. Rangers arrived to find 66 year old James Long of Springfield, Missouri unresponsive. Life saving procedures were in progress by Newton County Deputies and park rangers assisted until an ambulance arrived on scene. Long was pronounced dead at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center a short time later.
