News Release: HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- A Detroit, Michigan man was sentenced to 15 months in prison today for distributing fentanyl, announced United States Attorney Mike Stuart. Octavius Ellis, 23, previously pled guilty in December 2018 to knowingly and intentionally distributing fentanyl. The Huntington Police Department handled the investigation.


Massachusetts Man Sentenced to 15 Years in Prison on Fentanyl Trafficking and Firearms Charges

Murray announced that Joshua Smith, 31, of Haverhill, Massachusetts, was sentenced to 180 months in prison for participating in a conspiracy to distribute over 400 grams of fentanyl and to possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

Strasser announced that DANIEL JUSTIN MAHAN, age 43, a resident of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, was sentenced Thursday, March 14, 2019 by United States District Judge Mary Ann Vial Lemmon to 151 months imprisonment, having pleaded guilty to receipt of materials involving the sexual exploitation of minors and violation of the Federal Gun Control Act. Upon release from imprisonment, he will serve a 5 year term of supervised release.

Vilardo. The charges carry a maximum penalty of 35 years in prison and a $1,000,000 fine.


News Release: DEATH VALLEY, CA - The National Park Service (NPS) Serious Accident Investigation Team (SAIT) has completed its examination into the accidental death of NPS volunteer Tom Jaskulski in March 2018. Jaskulski, a long-time Death Valley National Park volunteer, died while completing a routine fitness swim test to recertify as an NPS diver. The Riverside County Coroner determined Jaskulski’s fatality was natural, and the cause was cardiovascular disease.
