Nesting loggerhead sea turtle found dead on Cape Hatteras National Seashore beach

News Release: At 5:30 a.m. this morning, staff at Cape Hatteras National Seashore (Seashore) found a dead loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) on the beach approximately 0.10 miles south of Ramp 49 in Frisco, NC. It is likely that the sea turtle died from a vehicle collision. Loggerheads are listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act.
