Tommy Beaudreau was sworn in as deputy secretary for the Department of the Interior (DOI) by Secretary Deb Haaland.

Beaudreau returned to the DOI after serving for nearly seven years at the department during the Obama-Biden administration, according to a DOI press release

He served as the first director of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, as the acting assistant secretary for Land and Minerals Management and as chief of staff to Secretary Sally Jewell, as stated in a DOI press release

"I am honored to be back at the Department of the Interior as deputy secretary at this critical time for our country," Beaudreau said in a DOI statement. "The Interior Department plays a key role in President Biden’s economic, environmental and racial justice agenda, and I am thrilled to join Secretary Haaland’s team to deliver for the American people."

In May, Beaudraeu underwent a confirmation hearing with questioning by the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.

Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyoming), the ranking member of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, said at the hearing that Beaudreau could "serve as a voice of reason in an administration that is waging an economic war on energy workers in my state and across the country," as detailed in an E&E News article

Beaudreau has spent more than a decade working in energy development, environmental conservation and tribal consultation.

He was born in Colorado, raised in Alaska and currently resides in Washington, D.C. with his wife and two children, a DOI press release states
