Interior Department publishes 2 notices in week ending August 15

There were two notices published by the Interior Department in week ending August 15, according to the Federal Register.

The most recent notice, Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Draft Recovery Plan for the Poweshiek Skipperling, was submitted on August 9, 2021.

The Interior Department published 16 the week before, marking an 87.5 percent decrease.

The Department oversees more than 500 million acres of land. Downsizing the Federal Government, a project aimed at lowering taxes and boosting federal efficiency, said the department’s actions have contributed to a growing water crisis and holds many lands which could be better managed.

Notices are required documents detailing rules and regulations being proposed by each federal department. This allows the public to see what issues legislators and federal departments are focusing on.

Any person or organization can comment on the proposed rules. Departments and agencies must then address “significant issues raised in comments and discuss any changes made,” the Federal Register says.
