The most recent notice, Advisory Committee on Historical Diplomatic Documentation-Notice of Closed and Open Meetings for 2021, was submitted on Dec. 30, 2020.
The State Department published 328 the year before, marking a 32.3 percent decrease.
The most notices were published in February with 29, while December saw the fewest notices published with 10.
The State Department is responsibly for international relations with a budget of more than $50 billion. Tenure at the State Dept. is increasingly tenuous and it's seen as an extension of the President's will, ambitions and flaws.
Notices are required documents detailing rules and regulations being proposed by each federal department. This allows the public to see what issues legislators and federal departments are focusing on.
Any person or organization can comment on the proposed rules. Departments and agencies must then address “significant issues raised in comments and discuss any changes made,” the Federal Register says.
