Notice published on April 8 by Justice Department

The US Justice Department published a one page notice on April 8, according to the U.S. Government Publishing Office.

The notice is focused on Notice of a 15-Day Extension of Comment Period With Respect to the Agreed Amendment to the Consent Decree Providing for Remedial Actions at Neal's Landfill, Lemon Lane Landfill and Bennett's Dump and Addressing General Matters Under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act.

The Department is one of the oldest in the US, focused primarily on law enforcement and the federal prison system. Downsizing the Federal Government, a project aimed at lowering taxes and boosting federal efficiency, detailed wasteful expenses such as $16 muffins at conferences and board meetings.

Notices are required documents detailing rules and regulations being proposed by each federal department. This allows the public to see what issues legislators and federal departments are focusing on.

Any person or organization can comment on the proposed rules. Departments and agencies must then address “significant issues raised in comments and discuss any changes made,” the Federal Register says.
