Senior Citizen Home Equity Protection Act: Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs was discharged from further consideration of S. 562, to amend section 255 of the National Housing Act to prevent the funding of unnecessary or excessive costs for obtaining a home equity conversion mortgage, and the bill was then passed.

Volunteer Protection Act: A motion was entered to close further debate on the motion to proceed to consideration of S. 543, to provide certain protections to volunteers, nonprofit organizations, and governmental entities in lawsuits based on the activities of volunteers and, in accordance with the provisions of Rule XXII of the Standing Rules of the Senate, a vote on the cloture motion will occur on Tuesday, April 29, 1997.
