Testimony was heard from the following Department of Agriculture officials: Robert Bonnie, Under Secretary, Natural Resources and Environment; Alexis Taylor, Deputy Under Secretary, Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services; Catherine Woteki, Under Secretary, Research, Education and Economics; and Ed Avalos, Under Secretary, Marketing and Regulatory Programs.
AMERICAN INDIAN AND ALASKA NATIVE PUBLIC AND OUTSIDE WITNESS DAY
Committee on Appropriations: Subcommittee on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies held a hearing on March 18, 2016, for American Indian and Alaska Native public and outside witnesses. Testimony was heard from public witnesses.
STANDARD MERGER AND ACQUISITION REVIEWS THROUGH EQUAL RULES ACT OF 2015
Committee on Rules: Full Committee held a hearing on H.R. 2745, the
``Standard Merger and Acquisition Reviews Through Equal Rules Act of 2015''. The committee granted, by record vote of 6-3, a closed rule. The rule provides one hour of debate equally divided and controlled by the chair and ranking minority member of the Committee on the Judiciary. The rule waives all points of order against consideration of the bill. The rule provides that the bill shall be considered as read. The rule waives all points of order against provisions in the bill. The rule provides one motion to recommit. In section 2, the rule provides that on any legislative day during the period from March 24, 2016, through April 11, 2016: the Journal of the proceedings of the previous day shall be considered as approved; and the Chair may at any time declare the House adjourned to meet at a date and time to be announced by the Chair in declaring the adjournment. In section 3, the rule provides that the Speaker may appoint Members to perform the duties of the Chair for the duration of the period addressed by section 2. In section 4, the rule provides that each day during the period addressed by section 2 of the resolution shall not constitute a calendar day for the purposes of section 7 of the War Powers Resolution (50 U.S.C. 1546). In section 5, the rule provides that the Committee on Energy and Commerce may, at any time before 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2016, file a report to accompany H.R. 2666. Testimony was heard from Representatives Marino and Johnson of Georgia.
