May: 51 press releases published by U.S. Department of Labor

There were 51 press releases published by the U.S. Department of Labor in May.

The most recent press release, "Statement by US Labor Secretary Walsh on the President’s FY 2022 Budget," was submitted on May 28.

The U.S. Department of Labor published 95 releases the month before, marking a 46.3 percent decrease for the current month.

The Department provides billions in unemployment insurance, which peaked around 2011 though spending had declined before the pandemic. Downsizing the Federal Government, a project aimed at lowering taxes and boosting federal efficiency, claimed the Department funds "ineffective and duplicative services" and overregulates the workplace.

The proposed budget provides a significant boost to the DOL’s funding from $12.5 billion to $14.2 billion, a 13.6% increase.
