Washington – A free, two-hour webcast to help employers and pension professionals understand recent regulatory and related guidance under the Pension Protection Act of 2006 will be hosted by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) on December 6.

The act made significant changes affecting the operation of 401(k) and other retirement plans governed by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act. This first in a series of webcasts will address the new statutory exemptions on investment advice, service providers and corrected transactions, pension benefit statements and regulations on default investments. The series is being offered as part of EBSA’s compliance assistance program – Getting It Right - Know Your Fiduciary Responsibilities – to help practitioners understand their fiduciary responsibilities when operating retirement plans.
