EBSA News Release: ERISA Advisory Council to hold public meeting Nov. 3-4 [10/22/2014]

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Labor's Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans, also known as the ERISA Advisory Council , will meet Monday, Nov. 3, and Tuesday, Nov. 4. The two-day meeting will take place at the U.S. Department of Labor , 200 Constitution Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20210. On Nov. 3, the meeting will take place in C-5320, Room 6, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. EST. On Nov. 4, the meeting will take place from 8:30 a.m. to approximately 4 p.m. EST, with a break for lunch. The morning session will be held in C-5320, Room 6, and the afternoon session in Room S-2508.

The purpose of the meeting is for council members to finalize the recommendations they will present to U.S. Secretary of Labor Thomas E. Perez and to receive an update from Assistant Secretary of Labor for Employee Benefits Security Phyllis C. Borzi. The council will discuss the following topics: 1. issues and considerations around facilitating lifetime plan participation, 2. outsourcing employee benefit plan services, and 3. compensation and fee disclosure for pharmacy benefits managers.

Section 512 of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act provides for the establishment of the ERISA Advisory Council, which advises the secretary of labor and submits recommendations regarding the secretary's functions under ERISA.
