I commend the U.S. Senate for passing the Bahrain free trade agreement. Passage of the Bahrain free trade agreement sends a strong signal that the U.S. continues to work hard to open new markets for American exporters.
Free and fair trade helps to create jobs at home and lift millions of people out of poverty. This trade agreement is an important step that will help fulfill President Bush’s vision to create a Middle East Free Trade zone by 2013.
The Bush administration will continue to pursue free trade agreements that will create larger markets for U.S. products and improve our ability to compete more effectively around the world.
