U.S. Secretary of Commerce Carlos M. Gutierrez to Lead Presidential Delegation to Attend Inauguration of Alan Garcia Perez, President Elect of the Republic of Peru

WASHINGTON—Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez will lead a Presidential Delegation to Lima, Peru to attend the Inauguration of His Excellency Alan García Pérez, President-Elect of the Republic of Peru on July 28, 2006.

The Honorable James Curtis Struble, United States Ambassador to the Republic of Peru will accompany Secretary Gutierrez on the delegation.

Secretary Gutierrez met with outgoing Peru President Alejandro Toledo on July 10 in Washington, D.C. and congratulated him on the completion of a fair and transparent presidential election. Following that meeting, Gutierrez said that he looks forward to working with Peru's new leadership in strengthening U.S.-Peruvian relations.
