President Barack Obama today announced his decision to grant safeguard remedies to the U.S. tire industry: “Today’s decision goes a long way to addressing the injury caused to U.S. tire producers from the surge in Chinese tire imports that caused disruption in the U.S. tire market,” U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke said. “The President’s decision underscores this administration’s commitment to enforcing our trade agreements. We look forward to continuing to work with our Chinese counterparts on important trade and economic issues.”
