U.S. Commerce Secretary John Bryson Taps Senior Capitol Hill Staffer and Veteran Attorney as New Chief of Staff

Bryson’s top adviser brings significant public and private sector experience to the Department Newly sworn in U.S. Commerce Secretary John Bryson today announced that Bruce Andrews will be the agency’s new Chief of Staff. In this position, Andrews will serve as Secretary Bryson’s most senior adviser and counselor; he will oversee the entire operation of the department and spearhead the Department’s efforts to implement the top policy priorities of the Obama administration.

“I am excited to join Secretary Bryson’s team at the Department of Commerce and look forward to working with him to achieve his-and the president's-number one priority: getting more Americans back to work,” Andrews said. “I have been very fortunate to work for a number of great leaders, like Senator Jay Rockefeller and Alan Mulally, and am eager to get to work for Secretary Bryson.” Andrews, a Syracuse, New York native, is a graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center and Haverford College. He, his wife, and two daughters live in Washington, D.C.
