U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker today met with Ukrainian Minister of Economic Development and Trade Pavlo Sheremeta to underscore the Obama Administration’s commitment to strengthening Ukraine’s economy. In particular, the two discussed ways in which the U.S. private sector can support Ukraine’s economic stability and growth. U.S. companies have been present in Ukraine for more than two decades, establishing diverse networks of suppliers and creating jobs for Ukrainian workers. These firms are committed to remaining and growing in the market, and the U.S. Department of Commerce has been actively working with Ukraine on ways to further improve its business climate and attract new investment. Secretary Pritzker also praised Ukraine’s commitment to undertaking the economic and political reforms that will enable additional U.S. firms to do business in Ukraine.
