Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker to Participate in White House Event Recognizing Emerging Global Entrepreneurs

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of Commerce on May 7, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

On Monday, May 11, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker will participate in a White House event focused on celebrating emerging entrepreneurs from across the United States and around the world.

In addition, the White House will announce the expansion of the Presidential Ambassadors for Global Entrepreneurship (PAGE) initiative, adding nine new members to the group. Secretary Pritzker chairs the PAGE initiative, a group of successful American businesspeople who have committed to sharing their time, energy, ideas, and experience to help develop the next generation of entrepreneurs. Since their inaugural meeting in April 2014, PAGE members have traveled across the nation and around the world to achieve this goal, meeting with entrepreneurs and launching new initiatives. Secretary Pritzker has also met with innovators around the country and the world – from Saudi Arabia, Morocco, and Kenya, to the Philippines, Korea, and beyond.

Speakers for the event will include cast members of ABC’s TV series Shark Tank, entrepreneurs from around the world and from various U.S. government programs, and investors. The event will be live streamed on the White House website. To watch this event live, visit www.whitehouse.gov/live at 2:00 pm EDT on May 11.

This event comes ahead of the President’s travel to this summer’s Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Kenya and provides a unique opportunity to galvanize global attention on emerging women and young entrepreneurs. Secretary Pritzker has attended the last two Global Entrepreneurship Summits – in Malaysia and Morocco – and will join the President in Kenya.
