U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker arrived in Havana today, October 6, becoming the second U.S. cabinet official to visit Cuba since the re-establishment of diplomatic relations on July 20, 2015.
Tomorrow, Secretary Pritzker will co-chair a Regulatory Dialogue with Cuban officials. While in Cuba, she will meet with Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Rodrigo Malmierca, Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodriguez, and the Vice-President of the Council of Ministers Ricardo Cabrisas.
Her first event in Cuba was a visit to Mariel Special Development Zone (ZEDM), where she visited the container terminal and the warehouse and was briefed by representatives of ZED Mariel’s Office on the plans for the zone.
