U.S. Dept of State publishes 216 press releases in September

There were 216 press releases published by the U.S. Dept of State in September.

The most recent press release, Botswana National Day, was submitted on Sept. 30.

The U.S. Dept of State published 192 the month before, marking a 12.5 percent increase for the current month.

The State Department is responsibly for international relations with a budget of more than $50 billion. Tenure at the State Dept. is increasingly tenuous and it's seen as an extension of the President's will, ambitions and flaws.

The Institute for the Study of Diplomacy found the Department has a serious retention crisis and is at risk of losing well-trained and competent staff.

Data collected on Oct. 2, 2021 by the Dept. of State.
