Elizabeth A. Duke on Tuesday took the oath of office as a member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. The oath was administered by Chairman Ben S. Bernanke in the Chairman's office. She will participate in and vote at Tuesday's meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee.

President Bush announced his intention to nominate Ms. Duke on May 15, 2007, and the Senate confirmed her on June 27, 2008. Ms. Duke was nominated to a seat vacated by the resignation of Susan Schmidt Bies on March 30, 2007. The term expires Jan. 31, 2012.
