U.S. Department of Justice publishes 132 press releases in September

There were 132 press releases published by the U.S. Department of Justice in September.

The most recent press release, "Firestone Polymers Agrees to Settle Multiple Environmental Claims at its Louisiana Rubber Manufacturing Plant," was submitted on Sept. 30.

The U.S. Dept. of Justice published 95 the month before, marking a 38.9 percent increase for the current month.

The Department is one of the oldest in the US, focused primarily on law enforcement and the federal prison system. Downsizing the Federal Government, a project aimed at lowering taxes and boosting federal efficiency, detailed wasteful expenses such as $16 muffins at conferences and board meetings.

The Department's Hate Crime program found 48 percent of hate crimes between 2011 and 2015 were known to be motivated by racial bias. About 54 percent of hate crime victimizations were not reported to police during the same period.
